McLaren Solus GT

The track-only single-seater that started life as a Gran Turismo concept and became a $3.5 million reality.

Set #30657 2023 95 pieces 8-stud Approaching_eol

The McLaren Solus GT is rare even among McLarens — a 25-car, track-only, non-road-legal single-seater that began life as the McLaren Ultimate Vision GT in the 2017 Gran Turismo Sport game. Its real-world programme exists because customers asked for it after seeing the digital car. It’s a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 with a sequential gearbox, no hybrid system, and a closed cockpit; LEGO® rendered it as a polybag in 2023.

TRACK-ONLY

McLaren Solus GT

From Gran Turismo to reality

The Solus is the only McLaren road-going (track-going) vehicle to use a Judd-derived 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 — there is no turbo, no hybrid, no electric assistance. Output is 829 hp at 10,000 rpm. The car is built around a single-seater carbon monocoque and weighs 1,000 kg dry.

All 25 cars sold before delivery began. Owners include endurance driver Bruno Senna and a small private list McLaren has not made public. It is illustrative of the modern hypercar buyer: track-only is increasingly the most exclusive option.

The build

Polybag oddball

30657 captures the Solus’s closed-cockpit canopy in a 90-piece polybag — the canopy is delivered as a single transparent moulding that clips over the cockpit surround.

Stand it next to a regular McLaren road-car set (765LT, 720S, P1) and the Solus’s single-seater architecture reads instantly.
