OPEN-COCKPIT HYPERCAR
McLaren Elva
No roof, no windows
McLaren named the Elva after Bruce McLaren’s 1960s open-cockpit Can-Am cars (the M1A, M1B and M1C). The 2020 Elva inherits the no-screen, no-roof aesthetic but does so with a 2020-era 815-hp V8 and a carbon monocoque.
Production was originally announced as 399 cars; McLaren cut that to 249, then to 149, citing demand. A windscreen variant was offered for markets where the no-screen version couldn’t be road-registered.
