Mercedes-AMG GT3

The Affalterbach customer race car — Mercedes-AMG GT3 in 6-stud Speed Champions form.

Set #75877 2017 203 pieces 6-stud Retired

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is the customer-race-car version of the AMG GT road car — a 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 (a unit AMG kept producing for race purposes long after the road car switched to the M178 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8), running to FIA GT3 regulations. It has won the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Spa 24 Hours, the Bathurst 12 Hour and most other major endurance races.

The original AMG GT3 ran the M159 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 — the same engine architecture as the SLS AMG’s. It produces about 550 hp regulated. The chassis is shared with the road AMG GT but is heavily modified, with FIA-spec safety cell and a sequential gearbox.

Customer teams have run AMG GT3s at every major endurance race. The SLS AMG GT3 (the predecessor) won Bathurst in 2013; the AMG GT3 has won the Nürburgring 24 in 2016 and the Spa 24 in 2019, among many others.

The build

Six-stud GT3

75877 is the 6-stud Speed Champions chassis. The AMG GT3’s wide front splitter and large swan-neck rear wing translate well at scale; the wing is a separate element.

Silver-and-AMG-petrol-blue livery is delivered through stickers; the door numbers and sponsor blocks need careful alignment.
