Ford Mustang GT

Sixth-generation Mustang GT — the 5.0-litre Coyote V8 in 6-stud Speed Champions form.

Set #75871 2016 188 pieces 6-stud Retired

The S550 Mustang GT (2015–2023) was the sixth-generation Mustang and the first to use independent rear suspension as standard — an architectural change that finally answered four decades of “live-axle” criticism. Power came from Ford’s 5.0-litre Coyote V8 — 435 hp at launch, raised through several updates. This Speed Champions set captures the early S550 GT.

Ford Mustang GT

Sixth-generation Mustang

The S550 Mustang GT was a major architectural reset — first independent rear suspension on a Mustang GT, first model sold in Europe and Asia, first Mustang available in right-hand drive from the factory. Powered by Ford’s 5.0-litre “Coyote” naturally-aspirated V8 producing 435 hp.

The S550 was succeeded by the S650 in 2024 — a heavily-revised car using the Coyote V8 architecture but with substantial chassis updates. The 76920 Mustang Dark Horse Speed Champions set is from the S650 era.

The build

Six-stud S550

75871 is the 6-stud Speed Champions chassis. The S550’s long-bonnet, short-deck pony-car proportions translate well; the trapezoidal grille and tri-bar tail lights are printed elements.

Race Red is delivered through colour-injected bricks and printed body panels — a clean finish for a factory road-car set.
