LMP1 HYBRID
Porsche 919 Hybrid
Three-time Le Mans winner
The 919’s drivetrain combined a 2.0-litre 90-degree V4 turbocharged petrol engine driving the rear wheels with a hybrid system: an MGU-K on the front axle (battery-supplied) plus an MGU-H on the turbo (battery-charging). Combined output peaked above 900 hp.
Le Mans wins came in 2015 (Hulkenberg / Tandy / Bamber), 2016 (Lieb / Dumas / Jani after the leading Toyota broke late) and 2017 (Bernhard / Bamber / Hartley). Porsche took the WEC manufacturers’ title in each of those three years before withdrawing from LMP1 to redirect resources to Formula E.
