Audi R18 e-tron quattro

Audi’s LMP1 Hybrid — the diesel-hybrid prototype that won Le Mans three times in a row (2011, 2013, 2014).

Set #75872 2016 169 pieces 6-stud Retired

The Audi R18 e-tron quattro was the diesel-hybrid prototype that defined the LMP1-Hybrid era from 2011 to 2016. Across its model years it produced 510–560 hp from a 4.0-litre TDI V6, with a flywheel-based hybrid system on the front axle. It won Le Mans in 2011, 2013 and 2014 before Porsche’s 919 Hybrid took over. After Audi’s 2016 LMP1 withdrawal, the team pivoted to Formula E.

LMP1 HYBRID

Audi R18 e-tron quattro

Diesel-hybrid Le Mans winner

The R18 e-tron quattro’s drivetrain combined a 4.0-litre TDI V6 turbo-diesel engine driving the rear wheels with a Williams Advanced Engineering flywheel-based hybrid system feeding torque to the front wheels under acceleration — making the R18 a part-time AWD car.

Le Mans wins came in 2011 (André Lotterer / Marcel Fässler / Benoît Tréluyer), 2013 (same trio) and 2014 (same trio). Audi withdrew at the end of 2016 to redirect resources to Formula E — a strategic move that mirrored Porsche’s 2017 LMP1 exit.

The build

Six-stud LMP1

75872 is the 6-stud Speed Champions chassis. The R18’s long-tail prototype bodywork and closed cockpit translate well at this scale; the cockpit is a single transparent moulding.

Audi Sport black, red and white livery is delivered through stickers across the side-pods and the rear deck.
