Last Mercedes-powered McLaren
The MP4-29 was McLaren’s 2014 F1 car — the first under the new V6 turbo-hybrid regulations and the last Mercedes-powered McLaren before the Honda factory deal began in 2015. Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen drove it; Magnussen took P2 in his debut Australian Grand Prix.
The team finished fifth in the constructors’ championship with 181 points. After 2014, McLaren switched to Honda power for an unsuccessful three-year period; the team didn’t return to Mercedes until 2021.
