Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T

Dom Toretto’s blower-charged 1970 Charger — the supercharged hero car of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Set #76912 2022 345 pieces 8-stud Retired

Of all the cars Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto drives across the Fast & Furious franchise, the one viewers remember is his father’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T — the matte-black 440 with a comically oversized supercharger sticking through the bonnet. It appears in the original 2001 film, again in Furious 7, and gets the Speed Champions treatment in 2022.

FILM HERO CAR

1970 Dodge Charger R/T

Fast & Furious franchise

The real B-body Charger R/T launched in 1968. The 1970 model carried the Magnum 440 V8 (375 hp factory) with a 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic, sitting on Mopar’s torsion-bar front and leaf-spring rear suspension.

Dom’s film car adds a 6-71 supercharger that pokes through the bonnet, an exposed rear differential, and matte-black paint. The on-screen 9-second quarter-mile claim is film fiction, but the car is a faithful tribute to street-racing aesthetics in the late 1990s southern Californian scene the first film documented.

The build

Eight-stud Charger

76912 is the 8-stud Speed Champions translation — wider than the older 6-stud Speed Champions models, with more room for the Charger’s hidden-headlight grille and Coke-bottle hip line.

The supercharger is the build’s standout — a stack of small printed pieces lifts through the printed bonnet panel. Don’t skip the chrome-look bricks for the front grille; they’re what sells the late-60s Dodge identity.
