Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Race Car

The Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Cup-spec stockcar in 6-stud Speed Champions form — the last 6-stud era Chevy in the catalogue.

Set #75891 2019 198 pieces 6-stud Retired

Chevrolet entered the NASCAR Cup Series Camaro ZL1 in 2018 to replace the SS, running a 5.86-litre carburetted V8 (~750 hp), a tubular-steel space frame and a body that referenced the road ZL1 only at the silhouette level. This Speed Champions rendering captures the 2018-19 livery before the 2022 Next Gen rules changed the body design.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 NASCAR

NASCAR Cup-spec stockcar

The 2018-spec Camaro ZL1 was Chevrolet’s replacement for the SS in NASCAR’s top series. It ran the carburetted R07 5.86-litre V8 (mandated for all Chevy Cup cars at the time), a four-speed manual gearbox, and a tubular-steel space frame with a fibreglass body shell.

The car won the 2018 Daytona 500 with Austin Dillon and the 2018 NASCAR Cup championship with Joey Logano was a Ford — it’s worth saying the manufacturers’ race was unusually close. Hendrick, Childress, Ganassi and Leavine Family ran factory-supported Camaros in 2018.

The build

Six-stud NASCAR

75891 is a 6-stud Speed Champions chassis — narrower than the post-2022 8-stud cars. The NASCAR’s exaggerated front splitter, large rear spoiler and roll-cage interior are rendered with printed elements and a small sticker sheet for the sponsor blocks.

Number 88 (Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman in 2018) is captured by stickers across the doors and roof. The single-vehicle set leaves the partnered Mustang or Toyota on a separate shelf.
